Friday was one of the happiest days of my life.
After being married for what will be 5 years next month, 1 daughter, & 2 attempts to get a construction-perm loan, we finally succeeded on Friday & closed on our loan!
We had planned on building our dream house within a year or two of being married but with the economy, our low property appraisal, strict bank lending, Patrick being self-employed, the absurd amount of money they required us to put down, etc, etc...it has taken 5 years instead.
We still have a long way to go before I step into my dream home but I feel like a huge weight has been lifted & I hope the worst part {being the bank process} is over. We still have to move, so that the house can be built where we live now. Hopefully that will be next weekend; Mom & I spent most of yesterday packing things up.
Then, once we move I can say it will be another happiest day. The day we say bye bye to the single wide we have lived in for the past 5 years. Don't get me wrong, it has kept us warm, cool & dry. & it has allowed us to save the money we needed to save for our new home. BUT it will not be missed one bit by me. Patrick will probably talk non-stop about how much he misses it. It was his little bachelor pad before marriage, & he's such a simple man he could be happy living here for the rest of his life. Me, not so much!
So, we are going to have a very exciting & busy next six months or so. I can't even describe how excited & anxious I am. I have the fever so bad, that I took a trip to Lowe's yesterday just to look at paint colors, ha!! I told myself that I need to go ahead & have ideas of what I want in each room. Right?!
I will probably update progress on our home construction weekly or so on my blog, just so I have it for my own memories. I know this time will be somewhat trying {as we will probably be living out of boxes with only the bare necessities for the next six months in our temporary house}, but it has been a life long dream for me to build a house. Let the fun begin!!
